The Story of Alex

We met Alex by chance at an Icaros music festival in Portugal. She was painting an enormous canvas, a striking, shamanic-inspired representation of a spirit animal, filled with extraordinary color and meaning.

Drawn to her work, I approached her. She was genuinely grateful to have her art recognized and shared that it was her first painting of this kind. Later, she donated the piece to the festival in support of a cause, a gesture of generosity and humility that stayed with me.

We began imagining what it might be like for her to paint during one of our retreats, allowing the people and experiences unfolding around her to inspire the artwork.

Temple of Return welcomed Alex to Ibiza, provided her with a home during her stay, and commissioned her work.

What emerged was a beautiful co-creation, shaped by the presence and experiences of the mothers and children at the retreat.

Today, her painting hangs in our space, carrying something of that gathering within it.

A chance encounter became a friendship, a collaboration, and a lasting expression of what becomes possible when we nurture one another's gifts.
